Microsoft Showcases Kinect SDK for Windows 7, Releasing This Spring
Microsoft showcased its Kinect SDK for Windows in the MIX 11 Annual Event for developers. Developers will have access to basic color and infrared depth cameras, robust skeletal tracking of two simultaneous individuals and full access to the Kinect’s four microphones for noise canceling and voice recognition with complete API support. Microsoft says developers will be able to write Kinect apps for PC in Visual Basic, C#, and C++.. The SDK is now only to be used to build non-commercial applications and the commercial SDK will be released later probably with the release of Windows 8.
